I Miss...

Ok so I am in I-Miss-the-Good-Old-Times- Land today....I normally tend to take a trip to this land when I'm having a lot of not so good days in a row.....so here's a list of the things I miss:

Emails from Sanaya and Vidhu (Sun and Star!) WRITE TO ME GUYSSSSSSS!!!

Being able to sleep till the sun rises: My day today started at 5 in the morning and thanks to late sunrises in winters when I was in the rickshaw at 6:30, the sun had not yet risen!\

Being able to spend time with my best friends....we are in the same college and well.....we haven't seen each other in I can't remember how long..unless our paths cross co-incidentally!

People with common sense....shall say no further on this or I will take a diversion to Rant-ville...and probably not come back!

Coming home before sunset...or actually just 8 pm for that matter..

Dinner with the family with hot food....

and of course....10 hours of non-stop sleep!!!!

Sigh.....hopefully soon soon....all this will happen soon....

Happy Birthday Kirti!

Happy Birthday Jaan!

Oh and just some memories:

Ek khwaab

हवा के झोके के साथ आऊँगा
तुम्हारी रूह को छू जाऊँगा
और जब आँख खुलेगी
सिर्फ़ एक ख़्वाब
बन कर रह जाऊँगा
तुम्हारी आँखों में....

Not Being Able to Be There

One of my best friends CD just put up this post: No one. As a friend it hurts to read it when this is about loneliness and not solitude.

All I would like to say to her is let me be there for you because I want to....I always want to. Open your heart and you will see me and Sun always there for you! Open your ears and the voices you hear in your head are me and Sun arguing! Remember, CD, remember when you said in your emails (and this was you of the the three of us: know what I mean?) that its always the three of us and everything is seen through "our" eyes!

We are never alone! Never baby! You both have got me through some really difficult times and now trust us to be there for you!!!

Love you and that never changes!

Life and Times of a Pcom Member

Its surprising that its been over a year about me as a Pcom member and I haven't written about my experiences. Being a Pcom member sure teaches you some really valuable lessons:

1. You will never leave college before other students. The golden rule of a Pcommer's life is that you are always the last ones to leave.... to the extent that you might just end up locking up some rooms because the peons have left!

2. You don't have much of a personal life.....don't even ask!

3. You are at your batch's services, whatever time of the day or night it is.....so the batch believes!

4. Companies giving 5 lakh packages expect to be treated as if they are giving 10 lakhs and placing more than half your batch....and you still go with it....sigh! That's life.

5. All levels of college admin staff are to kept happy to ensure that they actually do the work of supporting you (wait..........isn't that supposed to be their job??!!!)

6. You also have all their numbers on your phone....and also of HRs who call you at odd hours for things to be done.....and when they call you run out of classes as if there is a fire somewhere! Which brings me to the point no. 2 where I pointed out we don't have a personal life as per most stakeholders' perceptions....the stories we could tell you!

7. Students will always end up wanting to go for something 15 minutes before their turn at interviews/ GDs/ process and though they say they will be back in 2-3-5 mins it invariably turns out to be 10 mins and you are asking whoever is available and even remotely knows them to find them!

8. You will have great learning experiences all the time....

9. You will have a wonderful team that will always support you. Whatever the rest try to do!!

What Do Parents Want??

They keep saying its becoming increasingly difficult for parents to understand their children. Umm.. I have a question for those who say this, "What is it that parents want?"

So today my mom threw a screaming tantrum on me again. You see she made some food for me which I did not like because she forgot that I can't stand ginger or chillies in my food and she put lots of both to give it some "taste". Please do not ask of the results to my poor tongue! Anyways since I refused to eat it as I couldn't after 3 4 bites, though I tried to eat to please her (Mistake no. 1), she screamed and screamed about why did I ask her about what she was going to cook since I wasn't going to eat what she had made and then one comment led to another and things got nasty as usual.

So here's my part of the story: I had not asked her to cook! I had just asked her if she was going to else I would have figured out my lunch as I usually do. I am pretty independent as far as food is concerned (Supposed Mistake no. 2: only not when convenient to mom)!

Ok so what is it that parents want? Our whole life, they train us to be independent, to figure out things for ourself, to be able to meet our needs ourselves etc. And when we finally do, they start becoming bitter that we don't ask them for anything, we don;t need them anymore, that we've become too independent and that this isn't how "good" children behave.

So here is my question to parents: What do you want?  Us depending on you or not? Us doing things for ourselves or not? Us thinking for ourselves or not? Do you trust your own upbringing or not?

Take a step back and see what beautiful people you've raised and be proud of it instead of trying to control again.
