Its surprising that its been over a year about me as a Pcom member and I haven't written about my experiences. Being a Pcom member sure teaches you some really valuable lessons:
1. You will never leave college before other students. The golden rule of a Pcommer's life is that you are always the last ones to leave.... to the extent that you might just end up locking up some rooms because the peons have left!
2. You don't have much of a personal life.....don't even ask!
3. You are at your batch's services, whatever time of the day or night it is.....so the batch believes!
4. Companies giving 5 lakh packages expect to be treated as if they are giving 10 lakhs and placing more than half your batch....and you still go with it....sigh! That's life.
5. All levels of college admin staff are to kept happy to ensure that they actually do the work of supporting you (wait..........isn't that supposed to be their job??!!!)
6. You also have all their numbers on your phone....and also of HRs who call you at odd hours for things to be done.....and when they call you run out of classes as if there is a fire somewhere! Which brings me to the point no. 2 where I pointed out we don't have a personal life as per most stakeholders' perceptions....the stories we could tell you!
7. Students will always end up wanting to go for something 15 minutes before their turn at interviews/ GDs/ process and though they say they will be back in 2-3-5 mins it invariably turns out to be 10 mins and you are asking whoever is available and even remotely knows them to find them!
8. You will have great learning experiences all the time....
9. You will have a wonderful team that will always support you. Whatever the rest try to do!!

ReplyDeletePcom is the placement committee at any graduate or MBA or other PG colleges......and 5 lakh packages are actually on the lower end of the continuum for us......
